Bequests and Endowments

Leave a gift in your will

Making a gift in your will is a sensitive subject. It is not easy to think about life after you are gone. After the needs of relatives have been met, many people choose to support a charity that is close to their hearts.

Many people do not realise that most charities simply would not survive without the gifts patrons have left in their will. Legacies in favor of SALEM are used to directly improve the lives of people in dire need. Many SALEM projects would not have been possible without generous legacies left by caring donors.

There are many ways to include SALEM in your will. You could choose to give a gift of a specific amount of money, a valuable item (such as a piece of jewellery or a painting) or a portion of the residue of your estate. That means the amount left after bequests to your family have been made and expenses have been settled. Please be aware that any changes to your will must be legally witnessed so it is imperative that you speak to your solicitor or notary to get the best advice on how to do this.

Whatever you decide, be assured that leaving a legacy for SALEM is a very special and much appreciated gift. It is always nice to hear from people who are planning to leave a legacy – it means we can thank you personally and give you the opportunity to see what your bequest could achieve.

Supporting the SALEM foundation

More than ever our society is now reliant on the commitment of its citizens to help good causes. There are many ways to support the SALEM Foundation: from a simple one-off donation to establishing your own trust fund through which you can realise your charitable goals on a long-term basis. There are extensive tax advantages for donors depending on the country you live in.

SALEM-founder Gottfried Müller´s dearest wish was that SALEM would continue its work for a long time and help the very poorest people worldwide. According to this wish the SALEM Foundation was established in his honour in 2009. This foundation exists alongside the other SALEM establishments and pursues the same benevolent aims.

The SALEM Foundation invests the endowment capital to make profit. These profits are then used to realise our charitable aims.

You can leave instructions for an endowment to be paid to SALEM in your will or establish a trust foundation with a small amount of money during your lifetime. Many donors choose to establish a trust fund to increase the capital bequest at the end of their life.
