News from SALEM-Togo
30.07.2025
There is a lot to do at our training center in Togo right now, as project manager Gbati Nikabou reports. Unfortunately, the start of our new training programme has been delayed a bit due to bureaucratic hurdles. However, the waiting time is well used by our team taking care of further security measures to curb acts of sabotage on our work. Unfortunately, plants and objects from our possession have often been deliberately destroyed.
In addition, at the beginning of June, Gbati took part in a training seminar for trainers organized by the Ministry of the Environment. Togo wants to switch to organic farming. The training centres, such as SALEM-Togo, are to play a decisive role in this. We are supposed to train young people and accompany farmers in the transition to organic farming. The government recommends that we expand the target group of training. Originally, we wanted to train young people with an intermediate school leaving certificate or a high school diploma. Now everyone can be trained, even students from the age of 15. For the SALEM training, we have received various learning modules that are to be taught there.
The months of July and August will be marked by tree planting campaigns, which of course will not be forgotten in addition to the training preparations. Because our ambition is to make Togo greener.
The pictures were taken during the training seminar. Among other things, this involved the production of fermented compost or liquid fertiliser.
