There is No Alternative to Peace

28.11.2024

Here are a few impressions that Samuel Müller and Gerhard Lipfert brought back from their recent visit to SALEM-Raduga in the Kaliningrad region.

The SALEM-village is in a very well-kept condition, but there is still a lot of renovation work to be done, especially on the buildings. The wood in particular suffers from the often harsh weather conditions and some of it needs to be replaced.

The new youth center, which is currently under construction, is cause for celebration. The project was supported by the Lutheran church, for which we are very grateful. It will later provide space for children and young people who take part in our camps. An important building block for our Bridge of Peace!

Discussions with the team also focused on the question of how things can and should continue in these troubled times. But SALEM's peace work is essential right now.

There is no alternative to peace. Peace work can only be credible if it is practical. This is what SALEM stands for.

We are delighted that Viktoria Engel will take over the management of the village from her mother Anna Engel next year, ensuring that the project is well equipped for the future.
