A springboard into a new life

16.09.2025

Aside from the SALEM headquarters, our assisted living team has also been based in Stadtsteinach for over 15 years. This service is an outreach programme, which means that our staff support people locally with the specific challenges of everyday life.

We are now planning to establish a new shared accommodation facility called ‘Sprungbrett’ (Springboard) as part of this service, thereby creating an opportunity for young people with mental illness to live independently. A major advantage of this shared accommodation is the daily contact between residents and our specialist staff.

Experience shows that younger clients in particular have a greater need for support and that their home environment is often not beneficial to their development. We would now like to set up a living community in a building on the SALEM site in Stadtsteinach, which will accommodate up to six young people aged between 18 and 35.

Psychological problems often manifest or intensify in women and men in their early twenties, particularly when they are experiencing difficult family circumstances. The tense housing market further complicates the situation. The SALEM residential community aims to give this group of people the opportunity to become independent and integrate into society.

We hope that the increased care and support will improve the overall living situation and increase their opportunities on the job market.

The premises are available but need to be renovated. There are also no sanitary facilities or a kitchen. We urgently need your support for these renovation works, which are expected to cost around €100,000. You can donate to our ‘Sprungbrett’ project online here.

The renovation work is scheduled to be completed by mid-November this year, so that the shared accommodation will be ready for occupancy in December 2025.
