A New Home for deserted children

30.04.2025

What children need the most is love and secureness but they also need a home and enough to eat. In the SALEM children‘s village in Uganda children arrive without anything of this.

Our team tries its best to reduce the suffering for the people. Recently our social worker Racheal told us about a story that shocked us deeply and also exceeds the capacties of SALEM-Uganda.

Racheal said :“Currently we got confronted with a big challenge.which we can barely manage.Ten children living in a village were abandoned by their parents after having a dispute. The parents left their children without any help.“ .

The youngest child was only 2 years old and the oldest child was 20.The 17 years old daughter tried to take care of her siblings but she was completely overwhelmed with this situation. The goverment did not feel any responsibilites. A men told us about this tragedy so SALEM could help the children.

But the capacities in the children´s village are exhausted and that is the reason why we only were able take 2 of them to the village. At first they were taken to the SALEM hospital because they were obviously sick. The two children only came with the clothes they were wearing but they also needed things for their personal needs like bed sheets and of course in the children´s village it was made sure that the children get school education on the fastest way possible.

Luckily the mother was found from local authorities and she came back to her family but the mother and her 8 children urgently must be supported. She needs money for food and the house has to be  fixed because the housing situation is horrible. The old roof is made from dilapidated iron sheets which threaten the lives of the children. Aside from that the children also sleep on papyrus mats and as blankets they use rags.

Please support SALEM-Uganda so that we can continue helping children and families in need. Thank you!
