One World Station SALEM
SALEM has been recognised as a focal point for global learning and has been awarded the title of One World Station.
In this era of globalisation, the world is seen as more closely linked. The impact of global change – from climate change to the global economy – affects the lives of every individual on the planet. We live together in One World. SALEM’s strong awareness of global interconnections, allows us to better understand the world around us and creatively seize opportunities to get involved.
Global learning is a response to global development and the issues it brings. Attention must be paid to problems related to the prospects of global development as well as opportunities and possibilities for joint action by both the southern and the northern hemispheres.
SALEM is among the first ten One World Stations. This award was given at the end of 2009 from the One World Network of Bavaria, Germany. As a One World Station SALEM in Stadtsteinach is recognised as a focal point for global learning.
Among its key learning activities, SALEM conducts events focused on central themes of global learning. In addition, SALEM provides development assistance for educational programmes related to its mission.
