The first help for SALEM-Uganda has arrived: Thank you very much!

19.09.2011We are very thankful that we were able to help in the severe famine in Uganda with the first donations which arrived very quickly. Recently we transferred a sum of 5,000 Euros to Uganda. Further urgent measures will have to be taken in the next weeks and months.

The Nutrition Ward of the Health Centre has totally been overcrowded by now

A mere drop in the ocean ...

10.08.2011… can mean a lot for those affected! In January there were only 5 children, but by June we saw 25 children between about two and four years suffering from malnutrition and exhibiting partly severe health problems.

About 20 SALEM friends from all over the world found their way to SALEM-Stadtsteinach to spend a long weekend in our guest house, to take a rest from everyday life for some much-needed spiritual refreshment and prayerful walks along the Prophet’s Way.

The goal is to plant one million trees in the region of Mbale (Eastern Uganda). SALEM is working in partnership with three other NGO’s in the region who are members of the ‘Mbale Coalition Against Poverty’ and are supported by Waterloo Foundation UK and the Welsh Assembly Government.

3:1 for SALEM-Togo! The German Government supports our plans for a new tree nursery!

02.07.2010What joy! The German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development has awarded SALEM a grant of 35,000 Euros towards the cost of establishing a tree nursery in Togo. This will cover three quarters of the total costs, leaving a balance of 12,000 Euro for us to find. Alone, an impossible task, but together, we can do it!

Devastating landslide in Uganda - please help the forgotten children!

03.05.2010Not far away from the SALEM village in Mbale, only 20 km by air, a terrible tragedy happened on the evening of 1st March 2010 in the Mount Elgon region in the East of Uganda: a massive landslide of mud, soil and rocks came crashing down and buried the whole village underneath. The force took everything in its path and covered it with a layer of mud some 8 metres high. That evening, 350 people lost their lives, 100 of them were children.
